Chapter 5
After-use Care and Maintenance
Edition 1 – December 2019 SAFETY FIRST 125
MSA G1 Electronic Breathing Apparatus
Step Description Illustration
6 Thoroughly dry the facemask with a soft, lint-
free cloth.
Using the neck strap, the facemask can be hung vertically, as this will aid in
draining any moisture away from the exhalation valve. Dry with ambient air.
Ensure that the demand valve is completely dry prior to reconnection of
facemask and the re-stowage of BA.
Under no circumstances should pressurised air be used to dry the
facemask.
7 In the event that a set must be returned to operational stowage immediately,
re-attach the mask to the BA set and allow it to air-dry in the locker without
the facemask bag attached.
Allow sufficient drying time before refitting the facemask bag. Ensure that
the demand valve is completely dry prior to reconnection of facemask and
the re-stowage of BA.
