Cloud Connect
A cloud connection allows GO to connect to the SmartCare Cloud via a 3G data connection, in order
to perform various tasks. These tasks include reading the log and configuration, updating the device
by writing new configuration, firmware, python and voice files, and changing the assigned account
number (CSID).
A cloud connection on GO can be started either manually or automatically.
11.1 Manual Cloud Connection
The manual cloud connection is intended to be used by installers and servicing staff to update the
GO with the latest files, or specific settings that have been scheduled for particular devices.
1. To initiate a cloud connect, start the Installer Mode by placing GO on a charger and pressing
and holding the top button. Once in the Installer Menu, select the cloud connection option.
2. If the battery voltage is good or excellent, the connection will start.
• If the battery voltage is low or critical, then the respective battery notification will
be played and the connection process will stop. Please try again once the battery
has been sufficiently charged.
3. Once the cloud connection has started GO will flash purple.
• During a firmware update, GO will turn solid purple for approximately 10 seconds
while it is reflashing.
4. The cloud connection can take anywhere from a few minutes to 15 minutes to complete,
depending on what files need to be uploaded/downloaded.
5. If the cloud connection is successful, GO will say, “Update complete” and flash white for ten
seconds.
• If GO is on the charger during the update, it will also repeat this message when it is
removed from the charger (performed once only).
11.2 Automatic Cloud Connection
An automatic cloud connection occurs when the end user places their device on the charger and
there is a cloud update task queued.
A cloud update works in the following way:
1. A cloud update can be scheduled by a company administrator in SmartCare Cloud to be
applied to the fleet, or individual GO devices, when placed on the charger.
2. It can also be done by your organisation at the request of the end user, on a one to one basis
using the Cloud Wizard on SmartCare Cloud.
3. After 30 minutes on the charger, AND if the battery voltage is good or excellent, GO will
connect to the cloud automatically.
