I NSTALLING THE D EVICE
Rack Installation Overview
The CN 3960 can be mounted in a standard equipment rack that has been properly
mounted to the building infrastructure.
1. Install the mounting brackets on both sides of the CN 3960 using a #2 Phillips
screwdriver.
2. P os ition the device in the desired location in the rack. U se standard racking practice
to determine location. (See Figure 1-2: Side of CN 3960 with Mounting Bracket
Installati on O pti on s , on page 6 for possible options.)
3. Secure the device to the rack with customer provided rack screws.
4. Connect the device to supplemental ground using the Installing Supplemental Ground
section on page 25.
5. Install power to the CN 3960 using one of the following procedures:
• Fo r A C de vi ce s, se e th e Installi ng an AC Pow er Sup ply section on page 27.
• For DC devices, see the Installing a DC Power Supply section on page 29.
6. Install a cable tie to restrain the power cable, see the Restraining the Power Cord
section on page 26 .
WARNING: Secure all power cabling when installing this unit to avoid disturbing field
wiring connections.
