Verify
Purpose:
Turns
the
verify switch
on
or
off
when
writing
to
a disk.
Syntax:
verify
[ON)
or
verify
[OFF)
Comments:
You
can
use this command
to
verify that
your
files are
written
correctly
to
the
disk
(no
bad sectors, for example).
MSĀ·
DOS per-
forms a
verify
each time you
write
data
to
a disk. You will
receive an
error
message only
if
MS-DOS
is unable
to
successfully
write
your
data
to
a disk.
Examples:
If
you
want
to
know
the
current
setting
of
verify,
use
the
verify
command
without
an option:
verify
Verify
ON remains in effect until a program changes it
(by
a
Set
Verify
system call),
or
until
you
type
the
following:
verify
OFF
This
command
has
the
same
purpose
as
the
Iv
switch in
the
copy
command.
