Cruise Control
Neverengagethe cruisecontrolleverwhiletravelingin reverse.
Tosetthe cruisecontrol:
1. Slowlypressthe drivepedalwithyourrightfootuntil thedesired
speedisachieved.
2. Lightlypressthe parkingbrake/cruisecontrolleverdownwardand
holdit in thatposition.
3. Removeyour footfromthe drive pedal.
4. Releasepressurefromthe parkingbrake/cruisecontrollever.
Aftercompletingstep3, the drivepedalshouldremaininthedown
positionandthetractorwill maintainthe sameforwardspeed.If it
doesn't,thecruisecontrolisnot engaged.Repeatsteps 1-4to engage
thecruisecontrol.
Todisengagethecruisecontrol,lightlypressthe drivepedalor the
brakepedal.
NOTE:Cruisecontrolcannotbesetatthetractor'sfastestground
speed.If theoperatorshouldattempttodo so,thetractorwillautomati-
callydecelerateto thefastestoptimalmowinggroundspeed.
Tochangethedirectionoftravelfromforwardtoreversewhencruise
controlisengaged,pressthebrakepedaltodisengagethe cruise
controlandbringthetractorto a completestop.Thenslowlypressthe
reversepedalwiththe ballof yourfootto travelinreverse.
USING THE DECK LIFT LEVER
Toraisethe cuttingdeck,movethe decklift leverto the left,then place
itin the notchbestsuitedforyourapplication.
OPERATING THE HEADLIGHTS
ThelampsareONwheneverthe ignitionkeyis rotatedoutof the STOP
position.ThelampsturnOFFwhenthe ignitionkeyis movedtothe
STOPposition.
ENGAGING THE PTO
Engagingthe PTOtransferspowertothecuttingdeckor other
(separatelyavailable)attachments.Toengagethe PTO:
1. Movethe throttlecontrollevertothe FAST(rabbit)position.
2. Pullthe PTO/BladeEngageknoboutwardinto theengaged(ON)
position.SeeFigure9.
NOTE:Alwaysoperatethetractorwiththethrottleleverin theFAST
(rabbit)positionforthe mostefficientuseof thecuttingdeckor other
(separatelyavailable)attachments.

Tohelpavoidbladecontactora thrownobjectinjury,keepbystand-
ers,helpers,childrenand petsat least75feetfromthemachinewhile
it isin operation.Stopmachineif anyoneentersthearea.
Thefollowinginformationwill behelpfulwhenusingthecuttingdeck
withyourtractor.
Planyourmowingpatterntoavoiddischargeofmaterialstoward
roads,sidewalks,bystandersandthe like.Also,avoiddischarging
materialagainstawall orobstructionwhichmaycausedischarged
materialtoricochetbacktowardthe operator.
• Donotmowat highgroundspeed,especiallyif a mulchkitor
grasscollectoris installed.
• Donotcutthegrasstooshort.Shortgrassis pronetoweed
growthandyellowsquicklyindry weather.
• Alwaysoperatethetractorwiththe throttleleverinthe FAST
(rabbit)positionwhilemowing.
• Forbestresultsit isrecommendedthatthefirst twolapsbecut
withthe dischargethrowntowardsthe center.Afterthe firsttwo
laps, reversethedirectionto throwthedischargeto theoutside
forthe balanceof cutting.Thiswill givea betterappearanceto the
lawn.
DoNOTattemptto mowheavybrushand weedsorextremelytall
grass.Yourtractorisdesignedtomowlawns,NOTclearbrush.
• Keepthe bladessharpandreplacethe bladeswhenworn.
