8.2.1 Assembling / disassembling
the thru axle
1. Set the wheel in the fork or the frame while
threading the disc brake into the brake
calliper. Ensure that the thru axle is inserted
straight, so as not to damage the thread. The
thru axle cannot become tilted while you are
screwing it in. Do not force the axle, as both
of these issues may damage the thread.
2. Use a hex wrench to hand tighten the thru
axle.
3. Then, tighten the thru axle in place with a
torque wrench according to manufacturer
specications. The torque limits are clearly
marked on the thru axle.
4. To remove the thru axle, you must
unscrew it using a hex wrench.
Ensure that the lever is tight and that the
clamping lever is positioned correctly. Please
see the operating manual from your thru
axle manufacturer for the correct position
and setting.
3. Open the quick-release thru axle to remove
it. After opening the lever, you can unscrew
the thru axle and remove it completely from
the hub.
