Accessory Decoder [AD4] Programming
Things to Know Before Programming An Accessory Decoder - AD4
?Accessory decoder addresses are unique and separate from locomotive addresses. You may
have a locomotive on address 0045 and an accessory decoder output address 0045 at the same
time.
? Address 00 is not recognized. The first output address is 0001.
?There are 511 unique decoder card numbers that can be programmed into the AD4.
?The AD4 card number is the number used to program the AD4 “address.” In actuality, the
AD4 automatically assigns it’s own 4 output addresses when it’s card number is programmed.
For example, when an AD4 is programmed to a value of 2, the output addresses of 5 through 8
are assigned to outputs A through D of that card.
?The output address is the actual address used to activate a specific turnout or accessory. All of
CVP's AD4 accessory decoders can unlink the paired outputs to provide 8 individually
controlled outputs per card.
? Maintrack CV programming is supported by the AD4. All CVs, including the decoder address
may be changed without using the programming track.
? AD4 activation terminology: we use the terms “Normal/On” and “Reverse/Off” because you
can select either for activation.
AD4 Configuration Variables Listing
There are nine accessory decoder Configuration Variable (CV) values. Through these values the
AD4 is controlled. The storage is permanent and won't go away when power is removed. The
table shows the CV number the CV function and its original factory value. All CV values are
decimal.
AD4 Jumpers
Always remove the RUN/PRGM jumper before programming. Don’t forget to put it back on the
posts before using the AD4.
CV Values For On-Time and Pulse Duration
Additional tables for CV values and their corresponding effects such as flash-rate, pulse width
and card-to-output address cross reference are available from the CVP Products website.
