13. Fill transmission with fluid through
transmission fill tube.
14. Add fluid until fluid level is visible in lower
"COLD" portion of sight gauge (Figure 76).
15. Start engine. Idle engine for two minutes.
Have a person remain in the cab.
16. With engine idling, have second person
check transmission fluid level again. Add
fluid until level reaches "HOT" mark on
sight gauge.
17. Idle engine until transmission fluid
temperature reaches 82 – 93°C (180 –
200°F). Oil level must be at "HOT" mark or
above as shown in (Figure 76).
NOTE: If oil level is above top end of
sight gauge (completely filling
it), drain oil until level is at
"HOT" mark.
NOTE: If transmission cannot reach an
operating temperature of 80°C
(176°F), then the oil level must
be visible in the sight gauge
below the "HOT" mark.
Periodically check oil level
during the workday to ensure
that oil level does not rise
above top end of sight gauge.
18. Check filter for leaks while engine is
running.
