Orientation to the WheelChair Mover
1) The controls include the following which are shown on the next pages:
Forward/reverse throttle control levers
“O/I” on/off switch
Horn button
Back-Away button
Rabbit/turtle switch
Controller status indicator
Battery level indicator
Hitch handle
Latch release
Hitch foot pedal
Power Controls and Emergency Off (Service Maintenance Key)
2) The WheelChair Mover should be parked on a level surface and turned off using the
“O/I” switch when not in use.
3) The WheelChair Mover is turned by exerting light pressure to move the handlebars,
to the left or right, similar to steering a bicycle.
4) Acceleration and braking of the WheelChair Mover are controlled by the throttle
control located on both sides of the handle bar. WheelChair Mover speed is
controlled by pushing the throttle control, i.e. push slightly to move slowly and push
more to move faster. Braking action occurs as pressure is released. Braking force
can be controlled for quick or gradual stops. Releasing the control slowly brings the
WheelChair Mover to a gradual stop. Releasing the throttle control quickly stops the
WheelChair Mover more quickly. Maximum braking force is applied when the throttle
is fully released.
5) Pressing the "HORN" button will sound the horn as long as it is pressed.
6) Manually Moving the WheelChair Mover. To move by hand, disconnect the
wheelchair and any attached devices. Find the gearbox release lever on the front
right hand side on the machine and push the lever forward. See diagram
WheelChair Mover – Right Side View (page 15). The machine can now be moved
using the handlebars. Push the gearbox release lever back in after use.
CAUTION:
The machine has no brakes and cannot be
operated with the gearbox release lever released.
7) The Wheelchair Mover is inhibited from moving when the charging cord is plugged
into the wall receptacle. Disconnect cord before turning on the machine for use.
