Test for Correct Operation
Before Operating Checklist:
1) Unplug the Battery Charging Cord before operation.
Warning:
If any of the following tests are failed, turn off the
WheelChair Mover, tag the machine "DO NOT
USE" and call maintenance or call Dane
Technologies at our toll-free service line: 888-544-
7779.
2) Perform a complete Safety Check to ensure the unit is working properly, including:
Hitch Handle:
o Check that handle moves smoothly through full stroke and that
the handle cannot be pulled up without pulling the latch release.
o Check that latch release moves smoothly.
Hitch and jaws:
o Set the hitch handle halfway down and check that the hitch sliding bars
cannot be pushed in (toward the machine).
o Check that the jaws are not loose on the sliding bars and they are not
damaged or bent.
Speed/Throttle Controls:
o Check that the throttle moves without interference and causes the machine to
move smoothly slow and fast in each direction at the correct speed and stop
when the throttle is released.
o While holding the throttle to move the machine slowly toward you, press the
BACK-AWAY button and verify that the machine moves away from you.
o With the machine switched off, the brake should not allow pushing the
machine forward.
Indicator Lights:
o Check that the battery level indicator shows the battery charge level in the
normal range.
o Check that the “O/I” (on/off), horn, and rabbit/ turtle switches move smoothly
and operate their functions.
3) Follow facility procedures for recording daily operation checks.
Before moving patients:
Ensure that the Hitch/Jaws are securely locked to the wheelchair frame at all times
during transport.
