Operator Training Manual Demonstration Training Script:
Review & Explain All Warnings and Labels
See WheelChair Mover Warnings and Safety Notes in the Owners Manual.
Perform Actual Inspection
As indicated on page 24 of the Owners Manual, show them how to conduct a Test for
Correct Operation on the following: battery charge level, hitch and jaw security, steering,
throttle controls and braking whenever using the machine.
Show How to Turn the Machine On
In order to start the machine, the “O/I” (on/off) switch located on the control panel must
be pushed to the “I” on position. To turn the power off, press the switch to “O”. Note: Do
not leave the machine on when unattended or hooked to a wheelchair.
Faster stopping with your Wheelchair Mover can be accomplished by turning the
Wheelchair Mover “Off” or by reversing the handle control in order to reverse the
direction the Wheelchair Mover is traveling.
In Emergency Only
For complete disconnection of electrical power to
the machine use the “Emergency Off” power
control on the back of the machine below the left
handlebar.
Caution - This sudden stop may cause discomfort
to the wheelchair passenger.
Demonstrate Use of the Throttle
By pushing the RH side of the throttle lever the WheelChair Mover will move forward.
By pushing the LH side of the throttle lever it will move backward. It is very important
that they see these operations before practicing. Control the speed of the machine by
how far they depress the throttle. Moving the lever forward slightly, you can make the
machine move very slowly. Pushing the lever in farther will make the machine move
faster. It is important to show that the machine will not move immediately as you
depress the lever. The machine is programmed for safety and will have a slight delay in
reaction to pushing in the throttle. (Sometimes, new users react to this delay by
believing they must push the throttle lever down all the way and are then surprised that
it reaches full acceleration and speed.)
Also, demonstrate how to slow down or stop the machine by releasing the lever. Slow
down, slowly, by releasing the pressure slowly on the lever. To stop faster, release the
lever faster. (Sometimes, new users may try to control the speed by doing that which
