the wheelchair out of the way. Alternatively, once the WheelChair Mover hitch and jaws
are disengaged, the operator could push the wheel chair manually off the WheelChair
Mover if safe ergonomic practices allow.
Charging:
Show the trainees where you want the WheelChair Mover parked when charging the
batteries. Remind them to turn off the unit and then plug it in. Do not turn on the
machine until the machine is unplugged.
Special Points of Safety and Only connect and disconnect a wheelchair to the
Operational Emphasis. WCM on a level floor. No slopes!
Always back down a ramp when transporting a
patient.
Always engage the “turtle” switch when
connecting or disconnecting to a wheelchair.
Communicate with your patient and explain the
purpose of the WheelChair Mover.
Slow down when making turns.
Ensure that plenty of clearance exists between
your patient and obstacles such as walls, doors,
equipment and people.
Always drive and steer with both hands.
Never operate faster that conditions, obstacles,
and patient safety and comfort permit.
Never stop and walk away from the machine on a
ramp or slope.
Never leave a patient unattended.
Turn the machine to the off position when leaving
the unit.
Always check the machine for safe control and
operation before using the machine.
