dCS Delius User Manual Manual for Software Issue 2.3x
dCS Ltd September 2004
Manual filename: Delius Manual v2.3x.doc Page 41 email: more@dcsltd.co.uk
English version web-site: www.dcsltd.co.uk
REC Digital Output
The REC output buffers and loops through the selected single wire input data
with sample rates up to 96kS/s. The data format is the same as the selected
input (i.e. AES3 or IEC60958), the electrical format is SPDIF. It may be
connected to a digital recorder or another DAC. Use with 75 ohm co-axial
cables designed for digital audio or RF use.
IMPORTANT! This output is intended for use with Single AES, RCA, BNC, Toslink or ST
inputs ONLY. If the selected input is in any other format, the REC output
will carry either the left channel data or full scale noise.
IMPORTANT! If the selected input is SPDIF and the Copy Prohibit flag in the source data is
set, the REC output will be the same and you will not be able to record the
data.
1394 Interface
Units fitted with an IEEE 1394 multi-channel interface feature two 6-way 1394
connectors. The active source is selected by the Input button, see page 36.
In this release, the unit accepts DSD data at 2.822MS/s from either 1394
connector. For correct operation, the source must generate a 44.1kHz
wordclock (or be locked to a master clock running at 44.1kHz) and this must be
connected to Delius’ Wordclock In connector. We recommend using the 1.8
metre long, 6-way IEEE 1394 cable assembly and the BNC cable assembly
provided. See the “IEEE 1394 Overview” section on page 50 for more
information.
Wordclock Digital Input / Output
The Wordclock Input accepts a Wordclock at sample rates up to 96kS/s. It
allows Delius and your source equipment (e.g. CD or DVD player) to be
synchronised to a master clock. This arrangement helps reduce jitter, which can
degrade the audio output. See the MS menu page on page 23 for details.
The Wordclock Output is intended to synchronise other equipment to Delius. In
Master mode, the unit outputs a 44.1kHz master clock for other equipment to
lock to. In Slave or Sync modes, this output is disabled. See the MS menu page
starting on page 23 for more details.
There is no data on the Wordclock interface. Use with 75 ohm co-axial cables
designed for digital audio or RF use.
SUC
The Software Upgrade Connector is intended to be used by dCS service agents
to load new software into Delius.
IMPORTANT! Do not connect any other equipment to the SUC connector as this may
damage both Delius and the equipment so connected. Do not operate Delius
with a PC connected. Failure to observe this warning will void the unit’s
warranty, and may cause unpleasant effects in your system.
