Removing heat sink module
Prerequisites
WARNING: The heat sink may be hot to touch for some time after the system has been powered off. Allow the heat sink
to cool before removing it.
1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.
2. Follow the safety guidelines listed in Before working inside your system.
3. Open the PSU assembly.
Steps
1. Disconnect the heat sink fan power cable connector from the connector on the system board.
2. Using a Phillips #2 screwdriver, loosen the screws on the heat sink in the order mentioned below:
a) Loosen the first screw three turns.
b) Loosen the screw diagonally opposite to the screw you loosened first.
c) Return to the first screw and loosen it completely.
d) Repeat the procedure for the remaining two screws.
3. Lift the heat sink from the system.

Next steps
1. If you are removing a faulty heat sink, replace the heat sink module, if not, remove the processor.
