7-4 AC/DC Reactor
AC Input Reactor
When the AC Motor Drive is connected directly to a large-capacity power transformer
(500kVA or above) or when a phase lead capacitor is switched, excess peak currents may
occur in the power input circuit due to the load changes and the converter section may be
damaged. To avoid this, it is recommend using a serial connected AC input reactor (3%) at
the AC Motor Drive mains input side to reduce the current and improve the input power
efficiency.
Installation
An AC input reactor is installed in series with the mains power to the three input phases R S T as
shown below:
