Also, if being compared against dead-weights, check your local gravitational constant and use custom units to compensate or calibrate on-site. Finally, check repeatability by placing the EDX in low-resolution mode, lifting an arbitrary weight several times as close to capacity as possible, and recording each weight reading. Calculate the standard deviation to see if it's greater than 0.1% of the instrument capacity. Compare against a reference load. Place EDX in low-resolution mode. Apply a known load near instrument capacity. Check calibration date.
