Engine Hard To Start Or Will Not Start – Smoke From Exhaust

Correction
Incorrect Starting Procedure
The Fuel Control Lever on the Bosch VE
Pump Must be Moved to One-Half Travel.
The Fuel Shut Off Control Must Be in the
Run Position. Refer to O&M Manual.

Cranking Speed Too Slow
Verify that the Driven Units are not
Engaged.

Check the Battery, Starting Motor, and
Look for Loose or Corroded Wiring
Connections. Refer to Page 137
Bar the Engine to Check for Internal
Rotational Resistance.
Cold Starting Aids Not Working or
Are Needed
Verify the Aids are Operating. Refer
To O&M Manual.

Insufficient Intake Air
Inspect or Replace Filter and Check for
Obstructions to the Air Supply Tube.

Air in the Fuel System or the Fuel
Supply is Inadequate
Check the Flow through the Filter and
Bleed the System. Locate and Correct the
Air Source. Refer to Page 83
