Rotate the engine to align the crankshaft to camshaft
timing marks.

Remove the capscrews from the thrust plate.
Remove the camshaft and thrust plate.
Camshaft Inspection
Inspect the lift pump lobe, valve lobes and bearing
journals for wear, cracking, pitting and other damage.
