8. Upgrade Cards
DORMA Upgrade Cards can be used to expand the range
of functions of the ED 100 and ED 250 swing door drives.
When the Upgrade Cards are being installed, information is
exchanged between and permanently allocated to the drive
control unit and the Upgrade Card. The desired function can
be used provided that the Upgrade Card remains installed in
the drive unit.
• The first Upgrade Card installed becomes the
Container module. The functions of other Upgrade
Cards are saved in the Container module. Every control
unit has only one Container module.
• If the Container module is removed, all the functions
activated beforehand will be deactivated after a certain
time.
• When the control unit is replaced the Container module
is unplugged from the old control unit and inserted
into the new one. The new control unit synchronizes
with the Container module and all the functions are
available again.
• If an Upgrade Card that has already been activated
is inserted, it is rejected. This is indicated by the
rapid flashing of the yellow LED. The module is not
invalidated in this case.
• If the Container module from a third-party control unit
is inserted, the Container module is rejected. This is
indicated by the rapid flashing of the yellow and green
LEDs. The module can be permanently synchronized
with only one control unit.
• For re-installation, the extended factory setting must
be activated.
• If the Container module is defective, a new set of
function modules must be used.
• The Upgrade Card’s status is indicated on the three
integrated LEDs. The red LED lights up as soon as
the DCW participants have registered with the DCW
Upgrade Card and indicates that DCW telegrams are
being exchanged.
8.1 Combination options
Different functions are available. The Upgrade Cards are
different colors for distinction purposes.

8.1.1 Full-Energy Upgrade Card – Blue / Transparent Blue
Following activation, the full setting range of the opening
speed, closing time, opening force and closing force
parameters are available.
8.1.2 Fire Protection Upgrade Card – Red / Transparent Red
Following activation, the drive can be used as a hold-open
system. The Full-Energy Function is also activated.
The hold-open system has the following functionalities:
Triggering
• Triggering via the detector input line-monitored by the
DORMA RM-ED.
• Manual triggering of the hold-open system by moving
the door leaf by 10°.
• Failure of the supply voltage.
Display
• Triggering is indicated by means of a red LED on the
end cap at the hinge side.
• The In 11 message is output via the display on the
device.
Reset
• Via the program switch, change from position X to OFF
• Via the door leaf, manual opening as far as the set
opening width minus 5°
• Via the internal user interface, press L and R buttons
for < 3 seconds
8.1.3 Professional Upgrade Card – Green
Following activation, the following functions can be
activated.
• Nurse-Bed Function
Partial opening for double-leaf systems
• Extended hold-open time
0 – 180 seconds
• Flip-Flop Function
8.1.4 DCW Upgrade Card – Yellow
Following activation, the following functions can be
activated.
• External key switch ST 32x DCW
• SVP DCW motor lock function
• Status message via I/O 4 module
• DCW program switch
8.2 Use in Double-Leaf Systems
Professional: The “Professional” Upgrade Card is installed
only on the drive for the active leaf as
required.
Fire Protection: The “Fire Protection” Upgrade Card must be
installed on both drives.
Full-Energy: The “Full-Energy” Upgrade Card can be
installed on just one or on both drives.
DCW: The “DCW” Upgrade Card is installed only
on the drive to which DCW products are
connected.
