Installing / replacing NiCd battery pack
- before first use
- when the display message
appears during charging,
and
- as part of preventive maintenance
every 2 years.
Undo screw in battery compartment cover (use
coin) and remove cover.
Take out defective battery pack and disconnect
plug.
Attach plug of new battery pack to receptacle in
battery compartment and insert pack.
Re-install cover and tighten screw.
Charging NiCd batteries
NOTE: Even while NiCd batteries are connected to an
external power supply, they will slowly discharge. It
takes about 2 years for batteries to discharge com-
pletely under those circumstances
NOTE: Always charge at ambient temperatures of
0ºC to 35ºC (32ºF to 95ºF)!
Alternatively, charge battery pack with
- on-board DC supply
Always use DC/DC converter 84 12 071
or
- AC adapter.
Always use AC adapter 84 12 709 for connecting
device to 115 V AC line voltage.
WARNING !
Treatment of batteries:
- Do not throw into fire!
- Do not force open!
- Do not attempt to recharge
alkaline batteries!
Danger of bodily injury.
Follow all local, state, and federal regulations
with respect to environmental protection when
disposing of batteries.
