Fire Alarm Operation
Alarm
On a fire alarm, the b ell or siren will pulse O N and O F F. The transmission of the alarm to the monitoring
station is delayed for 30 seconds. If the alarm is not cl eare d within the 30 se cond delay, it will then b e
transmitted to the monitoring station.
Silence
To silenc e the b ell or siren, press the [#] key. If the alarm is sil enc ed and the smoke dete ctor is not
reset, the alarm will resound after 90 se conds.
Resetting Smoke Detectors
Onc e the smoke d ete ctor is reset, if it still dete cts smoke, the alarm sequence will resound as
describ e d a bove. If there is no smoke, the system will return to normal.

NOTE: If you suspect that a fire alarm has transmitted and that there is no fire condition, call the
monitoring station to avoid an unnecessary response.
If a fire condition is apparent, follow your
evacuation plan immediately. If the alarm sounds at night, evacuate immediately.
NOTE: The description above may not be applicable depending on how your installer has
programmed the fire alarm operations on your system. Ask your installer for more information
regarding your system's operation.
Household Fire Safety Audit

1. Are all el ectri c al ap pliances and outlets in a safe condition? Check for frayed cords, overload e d
lighting circuits, etc. If you are unc ertain about the condition of your ele ctri c al appli anc es or
househol d servi c e, have a professional evaluate these units.
2. Are all flamma ble liqui ds store d safely in closed containers in a well ventil ate d cool are a? C le aning
with fl ammabl e liquids shoul d be avoi ded.
3. Are fire haz ardous materials (matches) well out of re a ch of chil dren?
4. Are furna ces and wood burning a p plianc es properly installe d, clean and in good working ord er?
