Application Notes
Smooth-Stop Option
The Smooth-Stop option is available with the
following variations:
Option ÒSÓ Printed circuit board with smooth-
stop pushbutton and wired relay
contact which opens the 120V ac
control to the logic board at the
end of the smooth stop.
Option ÒS1Ó Printed circuit board with smooth-
stop pushbutton and red light that
lights when the smooth-stop is
activated and goes out whenever
the smooth stop is completed.
Option ÒS2Ó Printed circuit board with smooth-
stop pushbutton, smooth-stop red
light, and a red light that lights
during ramp-up and goes out at
the end of ramp-up.
Check the product label on the Easy-Start ES to
confirm which option package was supplied.
The smooth-stop printed circuit board contains
the electronic logic for three different functions:
1. Smooth-Stop (1-30 seconds adjustable with
potentiometer SS time)
2. End of Ramp-Up Relay
3. Extended Time-Current; (End of Ramp-Up
DC Signal Voltage)
The input-output functions and relays are brought
out to the seven terminal blocks on the printed
circuit ÒSÓ option board:
(See Figure 4-16 for component layout.)
TB31-1, TB31-2 Input: Momentary N.O.
pushbutton for smooth-stop.
TB32-1, TB32-2 1A contact, N.O., closes during
smooth-stop.
TB33-1, TB33-2 N.C. contact, changes state at
end of smooth-stop.
TB33-2, TB33-3 N.O. contact, changes state at
end of smooth-stop.
TB34-1, TB34-2 N.C. contact, changes state at
end of smooth-stop.
TB34-2, TB34-3 N.O. contact, changes state at
end of smooth-stop.
TB35-1, TB35-2 N.C. contact, changes state at
end of ramp-up.
TB35-2, TB35-3 N.O. contact, changes state at
end of ramp-up.
TB36-1, TB36-2 N.C. contact, changes state at
end of ramp-up.
TB36-2, TB36-3 N.O. contact, changes state at
end of ramp-up.
TB37-1 output: +12V dc output at end of ramp-
up.
TB37-2 Logic Ground
Both smooth-stop and end of ramp-up option
functions can be turned on and off with one of
two switches on the option ÒSÓ printed circuit
board. These switches are identified as follows:
DS31-1 and DS31-2.
