When to Replace Batteries
NOTE Batteries must be replaced by authorized service personnel.
When the indicator flashes and the LCD panel displays Battery Failure, the
batteries may need replacing. Contact your service representative to replace the
batteries. Change the batteries approximately every five years.
Recycling t he Used Battery or UPS
Contact your local recycling or hazardous waste center for information on proper
disposal of the used battery or UPS.
WARNING
S Do not dispose of the battery or batteries in a fire. Batteries may explode. Proper disposal of batteries is
required. Refer to your local codes for disposal requirements.
S Do not open or mutilate the battery or batteries. Released electrolyte is harmful to the skin and eyes. It
may be toxic.
CAUTION
Do not discard the UPS or the UPS batteries in the trash. This product contains sealed, lead-acid batteries
and must be disposed of properly. For more information, contact your local recycling/reuse or hazardous
waste center.

Using the UPS-Mounted Maintenance Bypass Switch
The UPS-mounted maintenance bypass switch is part of the optional Maintenance
Bypass Module (MBM) or Power Distribution Module (PDM) and is located on the
back of the UPS (see Figure 45).
