What to do if my Edimax Network Card won't connect to a wireless access point?

      Vanessa BauerJul 26, 2025
If your Edimax Network Card isn't connecting to a wireless access point, try these steps: Click ‘Connect’ a few more times. If the SSID is hidden (nothing displayed in ‘SSID’ field in ‘Site Survey’ function), you have to input correct SSID of the access point. Ensure you're entering the correct passphrase or security key for encrypted access points. If the access point filters by MAC address, go to the ‘About’ tab, note the ‘Phy_Address,’ and provide it to the access point owner.

If your Edimax Network Card isn't finding any wireless access points, try the following: Click ‘Rescan’ multiple times to refresh the list. Move closer to a known wireless access point to improve signal strength. Ensure ‘Ad hoc’ function is enabled if you're trying to establish a direct wireless link. Adjust the position of your network card (or computer if it's a notebook) and click ‘Rescan’ again. If a wireless access point or wireless device is found, try moving closer to its location.
