CONVERT.EXE Utility Program
CONVERT.EXE is a utility program which allows the conversion of
existing IRC-3 data entry files (FILENAME.N) or DCPU message files
into CMDN database files.
The CONVERT.EXE program may be executed in either of two ways:
1. Using menu-driven screens that prompt you to enter the necessary
information.
2. Using run-time parameters which you must define at the DOS
prompt prior to executing the CONVERT.EXE program.
Running CONVERT.EXE with Menus:
At the C:\CMDN prompt, type: CONVERT -M
Where the -M parameter executes the CONVERT.EXE program in its
menu-driven mode. The main menu displays the options available
within the CONVERT.EXE program: IRC-3 to FCC, FCC to CMDN,
and IRC-3 to CMDN data entry file conversions, Version, and Help.
The “Version” option in the main menu displays the version of the
CONVERT.EXE program that you are running, and the Help option
displays all of the run-time parameters that may be used at the DOS
prompt. Use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to highlight one of the
main menu choices, and press ENTER to select it.
FCC to CMDN:
Select this menu option to convert an FCC message database to CMDN
format.
IRC-3 to CMDN:
Select this menu option to Convert an IRC-3 messages to CMDN
format
IRC-3 to FCC:
Not normally used with CMDN. (Converts an IRC-3 data entry file to
FCC format.)
From the menu, choose the required action and follow the prompts.
When converting to a CMDN file, the filename of the converted file
must be in the form of FILENAME.Mxx, where “Mxx” is the
automatically assigned CMDN destination address, and FILENAME is
the name assigned to the project.
Running CONVERT.EXE using “Switches:”
Experienced users can avoid using the menus by entering the necessary
parameters at the DOS prompt. This is accomplished by typing
CONVERT followed by a space, a hyphen, and a valid parameter
“switch” at the DOS prompt. Several run-time parameter switches are
available with the CONVERT.EXE program:
-C = Convert an IRC-3.N file to FCC format
-D = DCPU Display Pattern
-E = Error Checking Disabled
-L = Line Number
-M = Menu
