24 CMDN Manual
3. After copying the contents of the CMDN configuration program
disk, the CMDN directory should contain the following files:
CMDNPGM.EXE, CMDN.BAT, and README.TXT, the OVL
directory and CONVERT.EXE. (Refer to the Convert.exe Utility
Program section for information about the CONVERT.EXE utility
program.) Additional files will be automatically added to the CMDN
directory when the program is used.
Using the CMDN Configuration Program
When connected to an FCC network, the entire CMDN(-C)/SMDN(-C)
network is configured in the FCC Compiler Program as a single display
connected to the DCPU.
Connected to an FCC/DCPU port, any combination of up to 32
CMDN/SMDNs and CMDN-C/SMDN-Cs may be connected together
to form an FCC/DCPU annunciator network. The first CMDN(-C)/
SMDN(-C) is connected to an FCOM-232 installed in an FCC/DCPU.
When multiple CMDN-C/SMDN-Cs are used, the data between
multiple CMDN-C/SMDN-Cs is sent between units using an RS-485
format. The first (and last when wired in a Class A configuration)
annunciator cannot be located more than 50' (15 m) from the FCOM-
232 installed in the DCPU when using RS-232 communications
Note: On FCC networks, when the RS-232 port on the first and last
CMDN(-C)/SMDN(-C) is used to connect to the FCOM-232 in the
DCPU, the first and last CMDN-(C)/SMDN(-C) are not available to
drive a local printer.
Overview
The CMDN configuration program is used to configure the annunciator
operating mode as the IRC-3 (FCC/PCPU) data line mode; Class A or
Class B FCC/DCPU display mode; or the LSS4 mode.
For each operating mode, the configuration of one or more
annunciators is a three phase process:
Phase 1 (the "Parameter Entry for Entire Project” screen) configures
the overall remote annunciator network;
Phase 2 (the "Parameter Entry for Selected Display" screen)
configures an individual annunciator;
Phase 3 (the "Message Entry/Editing for Selected Display" screen)
enters and edits individual annunciator messages.
Copies of the CMDN/SMDN worksheets at the end of this document
should be filled-in to assist you in rapidly entering annunciator
information.
