5 Coolant Filling and Replenishment
Prerequisites
The pipe connection of the coolant circulation
system has been completed.
The vacuum pump and the coolant filling pump
are ready.
Precautions
It is forbidden to run the chiller in a scenario
where no coolant is added.
The maximum pressure-bearing design of the
pipeline of the coolant circulation system of the
chiller is 10 bar. It is recommended that the
static pressure of the circulation system be
controlled between 0.8 bar and 1 bar after
coolant filling. Please pay attention to the
pressure control when using an external
coolant filling kit for coolant filling.
When adding coolant to the chiller, it is
recommended to equip a filter screen with a
size of 30 mesh or above to prevent dust and
other impurities from entering the coolant
circulation system.
When using water-glycol mixed coolant, please
refer to Table 8-1 to check whether the coolant
specifications meet the requirements. During
use, it is necessary to regularly check the
quality of the coolant and deal with it to avoid
abnormalities such as precipitation, which will
affect the performance of the chiller.
The coolant must have low hardness (calcium
hardness), otherwise it will cause scale
precipitation or loose layering, and the coolant
cannot be soft water. Up to 50% of the volume
fraction of ethylene glycol aqueous solution is
allowed.
During the long-term use of the chiller, the
concentration of the coolant becomes higher,
which will reduce the cooling efficiency of the
chiller. It is recommended to check the coolant
concentration in the circulation system of the
chiller every 3 months. If the coolant
concentration is too high, the value can be
restored to the normal range by completely
replacing the coolant.
During the long-term use of the chiller, the
coolant may appear mechanical dirt, high
hardness, high chemical dirt content,
biological dirt, slime bacteria, and algae. It is
recommended to inspect, purify and maintain
the coolant in the circulating system every 3
months.
Ethylene glycol is a substance that pollutes
groundwater. When using chiller, please
comply with relevant national and regional
regulations on groundwater resources
protection.
Coolant Filling Operation
Coolant filling means adding coolant to the chiller
for the first time. Only vacuum mode is supported.
Customers need to provide their own vacuum
pump. The operation method is as follows:
Step 1 Remove the maintenance panel under the
front of the chiller, and close the ball
valve behind the drain port (marked 6 in
Figure 2-2).
Step 2 Close the air discharge valve at the highest
point of the connecting pipe.
Step 3 Connect the vacuum pump to the coolant
filling port of the chiller (the same port as
the coolant drain port).
Step 4 Open the ball valve behind the coolant
filling port and then turn on the vacuum
pump to pump vacuum until the vacuum
degree reaches 100Pa±50Pa, and the
vacuum pump no longer emits white
smoke.
Step 5 Remove the vacuum pump after closing
the ball valve behind the coolant filling
port.
Step 6 Use pipes to connect the coolant outlet of
the pump to the coolant filling port of the
chiller, and the coolant inlet to the
external coolant storage tank.
It is recommended to use connecting pipes
with self-sealing quick connectors.
If air enters the pipe, please empty the
connecting pipe by filling coolant in advance.
