3. Sterilize the humidifier reservoir:
● Click on the toolbar to drain the humidifier reservoir. The pump will run until
the fluid drains to the minimum level and begin to fill with the 5% bleach solution
until it reaches the maximum fluid level solution until it reaches the maximum
fluid level.
● Repeat this process two additional times for a total of three drain/fill cycles.
4. Double-click the LV Tip Caddy to add the Pick Tip command.
5. Change the wash station time setting from 2 seconds to 10 seconds:
● Double-click the Wash Station to add the Wash Tip command to the Task List.
● Right-click the Wash Tip command in the Task List.
● Click Edit Item.
● Increase the wash time from 2 seconds to 10 seconds.
● Click OK.
● Click the Save button . Name your task list “5 Percent Bleach Solution
Sterilization Run Every Three Months” and save it for future use.
6. Sterilize the NT8’s liquid lines:
● Click the Run Task List button to run the task list you created in step 5.
● When the NT8 finishes the task list, wait for 5 seconds to let the pump rest in
order to prevent overheating.
● Repeat this process two additional times for a total of three wash cycles.
7. Rinse the carboy to remove the 5% bleaching solution:
● Keeping the tubing in place, unscrew the carboy’s lid.
● Dispose the bleach solution according to your institution’s safe disposal
standards.
● Fill the carboy half way with distilled water.
● Screw the carboy lid back on to secure it.
● Shake the carboy well to further remove bleach from inside the carboy.
● Dispose the solution in the carboy.
● Fill the carboy with distilled water again, this time to the maximum fill line.
● Screw the carboy’s lid back on to the carboy.
8. Run the distilled water through the humidifier reservoir:
● Click on the toolbar to drain the humidifier reservoir.
