Setting log levels and downloading logs
Phone logs can help you and Fortinet Support troubleshoot FON-x80/x80B series IP phones.
You can set a log level for each log type and download log files.
Before you begin

Make sure to use a web browser from the list available in Recommended web browser versions on page 41.

To access the web GUI of the phone, you need to know the administrator password. The default is 23646. The
FortiVoice administrator can change this password on the phone system in Phone System > Profile > Phone.
To set log levels and download logs
1. Determine the IP address of your FON-x80/x80B series IPphone:
a.
Press the button.
Status is automatically selected.
b. Press the Enter soft key.
c. Take note of the IP address.
2. On your computer, start a web browser and type:
https://<ip_address>
Where <ip_address> is the IP address of the FON-x80/x80B series IP phone.

The web browser displays a Warning:Potential Security Risk Ahead message, accept the risk by clicking
Advanced, and then clicking Accept the Risk and Continue.

In Name, enter admin.
5.
In Password, enter the administrator password.
6.
If you want the portal to remember your login credentials and use them the next time you log in, click Remember
me.
7.
Click Log In.
8.
Click Tool.
9.
In Logs, you can select a log level for each log type.
10.
Click Save.
11.
To download the file, click Download Logs.
12.
Depending on your web browser settings, you may choose where you want to save the .zip file and click Save. If
not, the .zip file is automatically saved on your machine.
13.
Extract the log files and view them in a text editor.
