Changing Wi-Fi Encryption
Overview
You can change the Wi-Fi network key and the WPA mode (encryption
standard) of the FRITZ!Repeater.
Note
In the Mesh of a FRITZ!Box, the FRITZ!Repeater automatically adopts
the settings for Wi-Fi encryption from the FRITZ!Box (Mesh Master).
If you would like to configure customized Wi-Fi encryption settings for
the FRITZ!Repeater, then you can disable adoption of the settings; see
page52.
Example 1
You would like to select the Wi-Fi network of the FRITZ!Repeater
specifically on wireless devices. For this reason you assigned the Wi-Fi
network a different name (SSID) than the Wi-Fi network of the FRITZ!
Box. Now the Wi-Fi network of the FRITZ!Repeater should receive a dif-
ferent network key.
Example 2
You would like to use the latest WPA3 encryption standard with wire-
less devices.
Instructions: Defining the Network Key and WPA Mode
1. Open the user interface; see page44.
2. Select “Wi-Fi / Security”.
3. Select a WPA mode; see page60.
4. Enter a network key. A secure network key has at least 20 char-
acters and contains numerals, upper and lower case letters, and
other characters. A list of valid characters is presented in the
Online Help .
5. Click on “Apply”.
