Poor welding properties
Heavy spattering
Cause: Poor earth connection
Remedy: Fix earth clamp directly onto the work-piece
Cause: Only on TP 2000 R.C.: r.c.unit is plugged in; welding current is limited by
the power source
Remedy: Increase the welding current on the dial on the power source
Poor ignition properties in manual electrode welding
Cause: Wrong ignition program has been set
Remedy: Make sure the arc-force dial is set correctly
Arc sometimes breaks during welding
Cause: Mains undervoltage
Remedy: Measure mains voltage at machine, increase the cross-sectional area of
the supply lead
TIG welding
Tungsten electrode melts off, tungsten inclusions in the base metal during the ignition
phase
Cause: Tungsten electrode has incorrect polarity
Remedy: Connect up the TIG welding torch properly
Cause: Wrong shielding gas, no shielding gas
Remedy: Use inert shielding gas (argon)
Cause: Wrong process has been selected
Remedy: Set the arc-force dial to TIG welding (turn completely anti-clockwise)
