Overview

The FUJIFILM instax mini Link is a smartphone printer designed to print images from your smartphone. It offers a range of features for both printing and interacting with the device through a dedicated app.

Function Description

The primary function of the instax mini Link is to print photos from your smartphone onto INSTAX Mini Instant Film. It connects wirelessly to your smartphone via Bluetooth, allowing you to select and print images using the INSTAX Mini Link Smartphone App. The printer uses a 3-color exposure method with OLED technology to produce prints.

Usage Features

Getting Started:

Before using the printer, ensure the built-in lithium-ion battery is fully charged. The battery is not removable and comes partially charged from the factory. Charging takes approximately 80 to 120 minutes using the supplied USB cable connected to a USB AC adapter (not included, typically supplied with your smartphone) or directly to a PC. You can print images while the printer is charging.

App Installation:

To use the printer, you must install the INSTAX Mini Link Smartphone App on your smartphone. For Android OS smartphones, search for the app in the Google Play Store (requires Android Ver. 5.0 or higher). For iOS smartphones, search in the App Store (requires iOS Ver. 10.0 or higher). System requirements may vary by smartphone model, so check the app download site for the latest information.

Loading Film:

The printer uses FUJIFILM INSTAX Mini Instant Print Film only; INSTAX SQUARE Film or INSTAX WIDE Film are not compatible. To load film, slide and hold the film door lock, then open the film door. Insert the film pack, aligning the yellow marks on the pack with those on the printer. Close the film door. The black film protective cover will be automatically ejected. Do not open the film door until all film has been used, as this will expose and ruin the remaining film. Each film pack contains 10 film sheets and one black protective cover.

Turning On/Off:

Press and hold the Power button for approximately 1 second to turn the printer on or off. The LED light will illuminate when the printer is on. If no operation occurs for about 10 minutes, the printer will automatically turn off.

Checking Printer Status:

The LED light on the printer indicates its status:

  • Blue (Lighting): Connected to the App/Print mode.
  • Orange (Lighting): Connected to the App/Fun mode.
  • Pink (Lighting): Connected to the App/INSTAX Camera mode.
  • White (Flashing wave-like form): Connected to the App/Operation screen.
  • White (Flashing): Firmware is being updated.
  • Purple (Lighting): Reprinting.
  • Rainbow color (Flashing): Transferring an image.
  • Flashing (during printing): Printing (color changes depending on the main colors of the image).
  • Yellow (Lighting): Critical error occurred.
  • Yellow (Flashing quickly): Non-critical error occurred.
  • Yellow (Flashing slowly): Minor error occurred.
  • Red (Flashing): Charging.
  • Green (Flashing): Almost charged.
  • Green (Lighting): Charged (when not connected to the App).
  • LED off (when printer is off): Charged.

Connecting and Printing (First Time):

  1. Turn on the printer by pressing and holding the Power button for 1 second.
  2. Start the INSTAX Mini Link App on your smartphone.
  3. Read and accept the "Terms of Use" and "Agree to this content" by checking the box and tapping [Agree to this content].
  4. The app will display quick instructions. Read them and tap [I Understood].
  5. If Bluetooth is off, the app will prompt you to turn it on.
  6. When the printer is detected, tap [Connect]. If multiple printers are found, select yours from the list (printer identifier is on the bottom of the printer).
  7. Once connected, tap [Close].
  8. Select the desired image to be printed from the app.
  9. Tap the print icon or swipe the image up on the screen to start printing. Before printing, you can tap icons on the lower right to adjust the image or on the lower left to apply a filter.
  10. Once the film is ejected (printer stops making sound), hold the edge of the film and take it out. The app will display the remaining film count.

Connecting and Printing (Already Connected):

  1. Turn on the printer by pressing and holding the Power button for 1 second.
  2. Start the INSTAX Mini Link App.
  3. Select the desired image to be printed.
  4. Tap the print icon or swipe the image up on the screen to start printing.
  5. Once the film is ejected, hold the edge of the film and take it out.

Reprinting an Image:

To reprint the last image, turn the printer over with the film ejection slot facing down and press the Power button. This function is unavailable if the app is in INSTAX Camera mode. The last printed image is deleted when the printer is turned off.

Controlling the App with Printer Angle:

When linked with the app, you can control certain app functions by tilting the printer. Ensure "Camera operation settings" in the INSTAX Mini Link App is set to [ON].

  • Changing App Mode: Stand the printer up to switch to Print mode. Lay the printer down with the Power button facing up to switch to Fun mode. This only works when the top screen is selected in the app.
  • INSTAX Camera Zoom/Shutter: Tilt the printer forward to zoom in, and backward to zoom out. Press the Power button to release the shutter.

Unloading Used Film Pack:

Slide the film door lock and open the film door. Grasp the rectangular holes on the film pack and pull it out of the printer.

Maintenance Features

Printer Care:

  • Do not open the film door until all film is used.
  • The printer is a precision instrument; avoid getting it wet, dropping it, or exposing it to sand, dust, or dirt.
  • Do not use cleaning products or solvents like bleach or alcohol.
  • Keep the film chamber and printer interior clean.
  • Avoid leaving the printer in hot or damp places.
  • Moth repellent gas (e.g., naphthalene) can affect the printer and prints. Store the printer and prints in a place free from harmful cleaning or household elements.
  • The operating temperature range is 5°C to 40°C (41°F to 104°F).
  • Ensure prints do not violate copyright or personal rights.
  • This printer is designed for household use, not commercial printing.

Battery Care:

  • Charge the battery completely before first use.
  • Charging times increase at ambient temperatures below 10°C (50°F) or above 35°C (95°F).
  • Do not attempt to charge the battery outside the 5°C to 40°C (41°F to 104°F) range.
  • The battery can be recharged about 300 times. A noticeable decrease in charge holding time indicates the end of its service life.
  • The battery and printer body may become warm during extended use, which is normal.

During Printing:

  • Do not shake or drop the printer.
  • Do not cover the film ejection slot.

Film and Print Care:

  • Store film in a cool place, away from extreme temperatures.
  • Do not puncture, tear, or cut the film.
  • Use film packs as soon as possible after loading.
  • If film has been stored in extreme temperatures, allow it to reach room temperature before use.
  • Use film before its expiration date.
  • Avoid airport X-ray inspection; carry the printer and film in carry-on luggage.
  • Store developed prints in a cool, dry place away from strong light.
  • The film contains caustic paste; do not puncture or cut it. Avoid contact with skin, clothes, eyes, or mouth. In case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention if necessary.

Troubleshooting:

  • Printer won't turn on: Battery may not be charged, or Power button not held long enough.
  • Battery drains quickly: Printer used in a very cold environment.
  • Power cuts off: Battery level is low.
  • Charging doesn't start: USB power adapter not properly connected.
  • Charging takes too long: Low temperatures.
  • Charging stops: Battery charged outside recommended temperature range.
  • Printer not working properly: Temporary malfunction; press reset button. If problem persists, contact service center. Battery may not be charged.
  • Film pack not loading/smoothly: Use correct film type (INSTAX Mini), align yellow marks.
  • Film not unloading: Film may be misaligned or jammed. Try reloading or turning printer off/on.
  • Prints are white: Film door opened with film remaining, exposing it to light.
  • Print is uneven: Do not shake, bend, fold, or hold print immediately after ejection. Do not obstruct ejection slot.
  • Cannot reprint images: Stored image deleted when printer turned off.
  • Cannot change App mode/tilting function not working: "Camera operation settings" in app may be OFF or printer not facing correct direction.

Bluetooth Devices Cautions:

  • Use only as part of a Bluetooth network. Fujifilm is not liable for damages from unauthorized use.
  • Use only in the country where purchased.
  • Wireless data may be intercepted; security is not guaranteed.
  • Avoid locations with magnetic fields, static electricity, or radio interference.
  • Avoid microwave ovens or other sources of interference.
  • The Bluetooth transmitter operates in the 2.4 GHz band with an output of approximately 3.16 mW.
  • This device operates on frequencies shared with commercial, educational, medical devices, and other wireless transmitters. Observe precautions to prevent interference.
  • Disassembly, modification, or removal of certification labels may be punishable by law.
