4.1 ETERNUS JX40 (S2) disk storage system
ETERNUS JX40 and ETERNUS JX40 S2 disk storage systems with an SAS port can be
integrated into the SE server when required:
– Up to two systems can be connected to an SU300.
– On an AU, up to two systems can be connected to one controller.
An ETERNUS JX40 (S2) disk storage subsystem occupies two height units in the rack.
Per disk storage system, up to 24 drives with the following gross capacity can be employed:
– Up to 1200 GB per drive with ETERNUS JX40
– Up to 1800 GB per drive with ETERNUS JX40 S2
Therefore, the ETERNUS JX40 disk storage system enables up to 28.8 TB and the
ETERNUS JX40 S2 up to 43.2 TB of disk storage space to be provided. When mirroring is
used, the net capacity of the disks is lower.

The disk storage system is switched on/off automatically when the SU x86 or AU is
switched on/off.
