■ Configuring the registry
If the LT20 S2/LT40 S2/LT60 S2 has multiple tape drives, a restart of the Windows OS may change the
recognition order of the tape drives during the system startup.
If NetWorker uses the LT20 S2/LT40 S2/LT60 S2, the changed recognition order of the tape drives becomes
inconsistent with the recognition order in NetWorker and prevents NetWorker from using the LT20 S2/LT40 S2/
LT60 S2. To prevent this problem, configure the registry so that NetWorker uses the unique identification
information (such as serial numbers) that is specified for the tape drive.
Example: Device name of the tape drive
- Before changing the registry setting

The registry setting procedure is as follows.
Procedure
1 Click the [Start] button, click [Run], type "regedit", and then click [OK].
2 Click the following registry subkey.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Tape
3 On the [Edit] menu, point to [New], and then click [DWORD Value].
4 Type "Persistence", and then press the [ENTER] key.
5 Right-click the "Persistence" registry entry, and then click [Modify].
6 Type "1" in the [Value data] box, and then click [OK].
7 Quit Registry Editor.
8 Restart the computer.

Set the registry of the tape drives before configuring the library such as by executing NetWorker's "jbconfig"
command.
Configure the library such as by executing NetWorker's "jbconfig" command after the registry is set.
If the library is configured before the registry is set, NetWorker recognizes the tape drives with the
information that is set before the registry setting and, if the LT20 S2/LT40 S2/LT60 S2 has multiple tape
drives, it is unable to use the LT20 S2/LT40 S2/LT60 S2 after the Windows OS is restarted.
