Your notebook has several security features that you can use to secure your
system from unauthorised access.
This chapter explains how to use each function, and what the benets are.
Please remember that in some cases, for example, forgetting your password ,
you may b e locked out and unable to a ccess your data. Therefore,
please note the following information:
Make regular backups to external storage devices such as extern al
hard drives, C D or DVD disks.
Some secu rity functions need you to c hoo se passwords. Make a note
of the passwords and kee p them in a safe place.
If you forget y our passwords yo u will need to contact the our Service
Desk. Deletion or resetting of passwords is not co vered by your warranty
and a ch arge will be made for assistance.
Use Kensington Lock
Your device comes with a Kensington Lock device for the Ken sington MicroSaver. W ith
the Kensington Micro Saver, a sturdy steel cable, you can help protect your note book from
theft. The K en sington MicroSaver is available as an accessory.

Passw

Your password can be up to eight characters long and contain letters and numbers.
No distinction is made between uppercase and lowercase.
