Your notebook has a variety of security functions that you can use to protect your
system and your personal data from unauthorized access.
This chapter explains how to use these functions, and what the benefits are.
Please remember that in some cases, for example, forgetting yo ur password,
you may be locked o ut o f the system and unable to access your data.
Therefore, please note the following information:
• Make reg ular backups to external optical disks such as external hard
drives, CDs, DVDs or Blu-ray Discs.
• Some security functio
ns need you t o choose passwords. Make a note
of the passwords and ke
eptheminasafeplace.
If you forget your passwords you will need to contact our Service Desk.
Deletion or resetting of p asswords are not covered b y your warranty
and a charge will be m a de for assistance.
Configuring the fingerprint sensor

Whether your device has a fingerprint s ensor or not depe nds on the
device configuration which you ordered.
The fingerprint sensor can record the image of a fingerprint. Wi th additional fingerprint
software, this image can be processed and used instead of a password.
