Connecting an external monitor
An analog screen is connected to the analog Video Graphics Array (VGA) monitor p ort, a digital
screen to the display port, or to the Digital Visual Interface - digital only (DVI-D) monitor port on the
optional port replicator or dock. The scree n output is limited t o a maximum of tw o screens a t the sam e
time (see "
Key combin ations", Page 36, the section on "Switching the setting for the screen output").

► Switch off the notebook and th e external monitor.
► Plug the data cable of the external monitor into the monitor port.
► First switch on t he external monitor and then the no tebook.
You c an also switch back and forth between the external monitor and the LCD
screen of the notebook, see chapter "
Key combinations", Page 36.
You can display the same p icture on the external monitor and the
notebook LCD screen simultaneously.
If you wish to operate the scre en via a DVI port, use the port r eplicator
which is available as an option for your noteb ook.
