2.4 Rescue Call
There are two kinds of rescue calls as follows.
• Emergency call (505)
• Urgency call (32/38/39)
Note: Emergency calling and urgency calling are an INMARSAT service and is not
GMDSS compliant.
2.4.1 Emergency call (505)
There are two methods to place the emergency call:
• Input the number to call.
• Select [Call (505)] at the [Emergency Call] screen.
Calls made to [Call (505)] are automatically placed to the closest RCC.
Once connected to the RCC, speak slowly and clearly, providing the following infor-
mation:
• Who you are: Vessel name, telephone number and call sign.
• Where you are: Your position in latitude and longitude or a bearing and distance
from a known geographical point.
• What is wrong: Nature of emergency or difficulty.
• Type of assistance required.
• Number of persons on board.
How to input the number
1. Remove the IP Handset from the cradle, and enter the number from the main
screen.
2. Press the key or press the Enter key to send the call.
