Preparing the notebook
To prepare the notebook for maintenance:
■ Make sure that the CD or DVD drive is empty.
■ Disconnect all peripheral devices.
■ Remove any memory cards, PC Cards, and diskettes.
■ Turn off the notebook and unplug the power cord and modem and network cables
(if attached).
■ Turn over the notebook and remove the battery. For more information see “Removing
the battery” on page 7.
Warning To avoid exposure to dangerous electrical voltages and moving parts,
turn off the notebook, remove the battery, and unplug the power cord
and modem and network cables before opening the case.
Reassemble the notebook before you restore power or reconnect the
modem and network cables.
