GroundingGuidelines
ThegroundterminalofeachAF-70shouldbeindividuallyconnectedDIRECTLYtothesitegroundbusbar(throughthefilterifinstalled).AF-70
groundconnectionsSHOULDNOTLOOPfromonedrivetoanother,orto,orfromanyotherequipment.Groundloopimpedancemustconfirm
tolocalindustrialsafetyregulations.TomeetULregulations,ULapprovedringcrimpterminalsshouldbeusedforallgroundwiring
connections.
ThedriveSafetyGroundmustbeconnectedtosystemground.Groundimpedancemustconformtotherequirementsofnationalandlocal
industrialsafetyregulationsand/orelectricalcodes.Theintegrityofallgroundconnectionsshouldbecheckedperiodically.
ProtectiveEarthConductor
TheCrosssectionalareaofthePEConductormustbeatleastequaltothatoftheincomingsupplyconductor.
SafetyGround
Thisisthesafetygroundforthedrivethatisrequiredbycode.Oneofthesepointsmustbeconnectedtoadjacentbuildingsteel(girder,joist),a
floorgroundrod,orbusbar.Groundingpointsmustcomplywithnationalandlocalindustrialsafetyregulationsand/orelectricalcodes.
MotorGround
Themotorgroundmustbeconnectedtooneofthegroundterminalsonthedrive.
GroundFaultMonitoring
Aswithallinverters,aleakagecurrenttoearthcanexist.TheAF-70isdesignedtoproducetheminimumpossibleleakagecurrentwhilst
complyingwithworldwidestandards.Thelevelofcurrentisaffectedbymotorcablelengthandtype,theeffectiveswitchingfrequency,the
earthconnectionsusedandthetypeofRFIfilterinstalled.IfanELCB(EarthLeakageCircuitBreaker)istobeused,thefollowingconditions
apply:-
• TypeBDevicemustbeused
• ThedevicemustbesuitableforprotectingequipmentwithaDCcomponentintheleakagecurrent
• IndividualELCBsshouldbeusedforeachAF-70
