3. At the S/140 front console, hold the UNLOCK switch and press RESET. Observe the Virtual Console
prompt (!) on the screen.
4. Restart the program at address 505 by typing the underlined:

5. The command string is now loaded and ready to operate as directed in later procedures.
6. The following information may be useful when using the command strings:
a. When the execution of a command string is complete, the program will return to the “UNIT”
prompt.
b. If you want to repeat a command string without changing anything, type ‘CR’ in response to each
question.
c. A command string may be stopped during execution by hitting the ESC (escape key). The
program then returns to the “DATA” question.
d. Change tape modes only when the tape is at BOT. If the mode is changed when the tape is not
at BOT, it will rewind to BOT and reset the drive.
e. Use only the space forward, space backward, and read commands with the Master Skew Tape.
Never REWIND or WRITE with the skew tape.
