SECTION 7 TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this section is to include troubleshooting procedures for some unique problems that have
occurred on the system. The suggestions to the problems have been provided by field engineers and technicians
who have, through experience, come into contact with a variety of situations. The information provided may be
helpful in other troubleshooting situations.
7-1 20FBH Error
Symptoms
The system is a 9800 Quick with a S-140 computer and an Argus disk drive. A 20FBH error (Invalid command
for X-Ray (software error)) occurs during dynamic studies. This happens during a body scan at 120mA and 2
sec. The problem occurred after installing WB software.
Troubleshooting Suggestion
Replace the scr AGCR-18 and AGA3 Gate Control Board in the generator.
7-2 Scout Image Error
Symptoms
During the Scout images, alternating dark and light lines are visible in the horizontal plane. The Axial images are
good with no artifacts. After running DAS Quiz, all tests pass except the noise test. Counts during the noise test
for all channels range from 100 to as high as 360. When the HV detector is removed, the tests pass.
Troubleshooting Suggestion
Check the power supplies. Especially check the 15V PS#4 for proper ripple.
7-3 Scan Enable Light Error
Symptoms
The problem here is intermittent. The scan enable light will light up and does nothing when pressed. On the
screen appears ”Scan timeout.” No errors are generated in the error log and the table is in the correct position.
The problem only occurs when the I/S is instructed to move. The following parts have been replaced: TGGC
boards, encoder, table wire harnesses, switches, pots, I/S motor and clutch and the cradle motor assembly.
Troubleshooting Suggestion
1. If some 1710 errors are appearing in the error log check the cradle release adjustment for no play. If the
scan enable switch, cables and the A4 I/0 board have been replaced the problem may be a cradle driver
positioning problem.
2. Check the power supply to the table. If the power supply is faulty then replace and check the table board for
problems.
3. The A4 I/O board offset and gain adjustments may be out of specification. Re-doing the adjustment may
remedy the problem.
4. The same problem on a 9800 Quick with a Zebra drive resulted in replacing the drive with an Argus drive.
