It is imperative that the tube type is correctly identified when selecting tube type at the INSTALL portion of the
load from cold and in REGEN. If the tube is improperly matched to the software, the following problems could
occur:
1. Image quality problems, i.e., artifacts.
2. Improper tube cooling algorighms may lead to longer scanning delays.
GE does not recommend the use of non-GE X-ray tubes for GE CT scanners. GE cannot
predict the performance of the scanner with such tubes, because the tube cooling and image
generation algorithms incorporated in the system’s software have been specifically designed
for GE tubes. Failure to heed this caution may lead to patient images with artifacts and cause
longer scanning delays.
