3. Check that all electronic equipment dust filters are cleaned. It is recommended that this be done on a weekly
basis initially due to excessive dust and dirt present at that stage. Over a period of time, the maintenance
interval may be increased depending on site environment.
4. As early as possible, instigate normal facility cleaning operations. Cautioning of the over zealous use of
cleaning liquids by cleaners is recommended, especially in areas where covers to equipment are not fitted;
particularly at floor level i.e., around TGGC.
5. a. The cleaning procedure for the DGC (Zebra) disk storage unit is:
- Thoroughly vacuum clean entire disk drive (use care when working around components and R/W
head area).
- Locate front cover panel. Remove (2) screws and plate securing air filter.
- Remove filter, vacuum, and replace in panel.
NOTE: Be certain cover plate is in place and screws are tight. This will prevent large dust/dirt
particles from getting in pack area.
b. The cleaning procedure for the DGC (Argus) disk storage unit is:
- Remove front cover panel.
- Carefully peel the coarse air filter off the Velcro strip on the lower portion of the front of the chassis.
WARNING: Damage to the disk drive will occur if the disk drive is operated without the
coarse air filter installed on the front cover or if the coarse air filter is
contaminated.
- Clean the filter in clean water, allow to dry thoroughly before reinstalling filter.
- Install clean filter on the Velcro strip, position it correctly and replace front cover panel.
6. Over an extended period of time, at regular intervals, using the recommended temperature and humidity
recorder and thermometer, record the following data:
NOTE: The periods of prime concern are those of maximum and minimum operational use, i.e., those times
when the equipment produces max and min heat dissipation.
Inlet air to: Main computer cabinet
Auxiliary computer cabinet
Disc drive
PDU
MPX power unit
Ambient air surrounding: Table/Gantry
Operators/Diagnostic Console
Multiformat Camera
H.V. Transformer
Farthest extremities, walls, floor, ceiling of the:
Equipment room
Scanner room
Operators room, etc.
