1.5 Installation position
The installation position of the GEMÜ 1434
μPos is optional. When it is installed upside

or dirt can enter the inlet or outlet of the
pressure relief valve.
1.6 Tools required for installation
and assembly
The tools required for installation and
assembly are not included in the scope of
delivery.
1.7 Service and maintenance
When installed and used in accordance
with these installation, operating and

2.1 Delivery
Check that all parts are present and check
for any damage immediately upon receipt.
The scope of delivery is apparent from the
dispatch documents.
Use the order numbers to check whether
the type and scope has been delivered as
ordered. If the GEMÜ 1434 μPos positioner
is ordered as a complete unit with a valve,
these parts as well as the accessories are
supplied fully assembled and preset at the
factory.
The GEMÜ positioner is then ready for
operation (reference conditions): Control
pressure = 6 bar; operating pressure = 0
bar).
2.2 Function
The GEMÜ 1434 μPos is an intelligent
electro-pneumatic positioner designed
for mounting to pneumatic actuators. As
standard, the GEMÜ 1434 μPos is mounted
directly to the actuator. The travel sensor
is already integrated in the positioner (the
GEMÜ 1434 μPos can be optionally ordered
with an M12 connector for remote mounting
of the travel sensor). The travel sensor
measures the current position of the valve
and reports it to the electronic system of
the GEMÜ 1434 µPos. This then compares
the actual value of the valve with the set
value specified and readjusts the valve
accordingly in the event of a control error.
The optional actual value output provides
the valve position currently determined (in
same direction according to rule diagram) as
an analogue value.
