What to do if my Graco 190ES Paint Sprayer motor won’t operate?
    • G
      glangAug 1, 2025
If your Graco Paint Sprayer motor won’t operate, try the following: First, slowly increase the pressure setting. If that doesn't work, the spray tip or fluid filter may be clogged, so relieve the pressure and clear the clog or clean the gun filter. If water or water-based paint has frozen in the sprayer, thaw it completely in a warm area before starting. If paint has hardened, replace the pump packings. Also, check the displacement pump connecting rod pin and ensure it is in place and secured with the spring retainer. If the fan still won’t turn, replace the motor.

What to do if my Graco Paint Sprayer motor runs and pump strokes, but no paint comes out?
    • B
      Bridget JonesAug 10, 2025
If the motor runs and the pump strokes, but no paint is coming out of your Graco Paint Sprayer, ensure the prime valve is closed. Check and refill the paint supply, then re-prime the pump. Remove, clean, and reinstall the intake strainer if it's clogged. Tighten the nut on the suction tube and check the o-ring if the suction tube is leaking air.

What to do if my Graco Paint Sprayer motor runs but the pump does not stroke?
    • S
      Scott SotoAug 15, 2025
If your Graco Paint Sprayer motor runs but the pump does not stroke, replace the pump pin if it is missing, and ensure the retaining spring is fully in the groove around the connecting rod. If the connecting rod assembly is damaged, replace it. Inspect the drive housing assembly and gears for damage, and replace if necessary.

Why is my Graco Paint Sprayer motor hot and running intermittently?
    • V
      vwilliamsAug 21, 2025
If your Graco Paint Sprayer motor is hot and runs intermittently, it might be due to several reasons. Ensure the ambient temperature is not above 115°F (46°C) and that the sprayer is not in direct sunlight; move it to a cooler, shaded area if necessary. Also, check the motor for burned windings by removing the positive (red) brush and inspecting for burned commutator bars, and replace the motor if found. Lastly, check the tightness of the pump packing nut; if it's too tight, loosen it to prevent restricted pump action and damage to the packings. If there's leaking around the throat, replace the pump packings.

What to do if my Graco Paint Sprayer has low output?
    • C
      Caleb WestNov 4, 2025
If your Graco Paint Sprayer has low output, the following steps may help: * Replace the spray tip, as it may be worn. * Ensure the pump doesn't continue to stroke when the gun trigger is released. * Repair the prime valve if it's leaking. * Tighten any loose suction tube connections and check the o-ring. * Reset the building circuit breaker or replace the fuse, and try another outlet, as low voltage can reduce performance. * Replace an incorrect extension cord with a correct, grounded one. * Ensure terminal pins are centered and firmly connected to female terminals and replace any loose terminals or damaged wiring. * Replace worn motor brushes if they are less than 1/4 in. (6 mm). * Clean brush holders to remove carbon dust. * Replace the pressure control assembly if t...

How to troubleshoot basic electrical issues with a Graco 190ES Paint Sprayer?
    • A
      andrew26Nov 24, 2025
To troubleshoot basic electrical issues with your Graco Paint Sprayer, first, ensure the ON/OFF switch is in the ON position and that the electric supply meter reads 100-130 Vac or 210-260 Vac. Reset the building circuit breaker, replace building fuses, or try another outlet. Replace the extension cord if faulty. Replace the sprayer power supply cord if damaged. Replace the fuse after inspecting the motor. Ensure motor leads are securely fastened and properly connected to the control board, replacing loose terminals and cleaning circuit board terminals as needed. Replace the motor if the motor thermal switch is faulty. Install the brush cap or replace brushes if leads are damaged. Replace brushes if their length is less than 1/4 in. (6mm). Remove the motor and have a motor shop resurface t...
