Bearing
Housing & Connecting Rod
NOTE: Refer
to Fig. 20 for Step 6..
6.
Screw the displacement pump about 3/4 of the way
into
the bearing housing (21). Hold the pin (25) up the
pin hole in the connecting rod assembly (22) and
continue screwing in the pump until the pin slides
easily into the hole. Back off the pump until the top
threads of the pump cylinder are flush with the face
of the bearing housing and the outlet nipple (49)
faces back. Push the retaining spring (26) into the
groove
all the way around the connecting rod. T
ight-
en
the locknut (27) to 90 to 100 N.m, using a 57 mm
open
end wrench and a light hammer
.
WARNING
Be sure the retaining spring (26) is firmly in the
groove, all the way around, to prevent the pin (25)
from working loose due to vibration.
If the pin works loose, it or other parts could break
of
f due to the force of the pump action. These parts
could be projected through the air and result in
serious injury or property damage, including dam
-
age to the pump connecting rod and bearing hous
-
ing.
7. Install the front cover and screws (23, 68). Connect
the
suction tube (30) and pump outlet hose (59).

Install the bypass hose and spring clips.
