FILLING THE FUEL TANK
Add fuel to fuel tank as needed. See your Engine Manual
for correct type and grade of fuel. To add fuel:
1. Put unit in an open area.
2. Stop engine and engage parking brake.
3. Clean fuel cap and area around fuel cap to prevent
dirt from entering fuel tank. Remove fuel tank cap.
4. Fill fuel tank. Use care do not spill fuel.
5. Install cap on fuel tank and tighten.
6. Clean up any spilled fuel.
Fuel Filter
Replace the fuel filter every 300 hours. See your Engine
Manual for instructions.
LUBRICATION
All grease fittings should be greased at 25-hour intervals
except U-joint fittings; grease those daily. Clean fittings
before attaching grease gun.
IMPORTANT: Wipe each fitting clean before and after
lubrication.
Apply Sten Mix Hi-Temp Grease or equivalent. Order
P/N: 00036700 – 10 pack of 14 oz. cartridges.
Add grease until it appears at ends of bearings. See
Chart 2 for the locations of grease fittings and grease
intervals.
Apply motor oil to all pin connections, pivot points and
areas where sliding occurs every 25 hours.
FASTENERS
Each day before operating, check all nuts, bolts and other
fasteners. Replace fasteners that are missing or
damaged.
ENGINE OIL
Check Level
Check the engine oil level daily. Never operate the engine
with oil level below the low mark on the dipstick. See your
engine manual for oil specifications and oil filter service
instructions.
To check the oil level:
1. Move the unit to a level area. Stop engine and lock
the brakes.
2. Clean around the dipstick to prevent dirt from
entering the tube.
3. Remove the dipstick and wipe off the oil.
4. Put the dipstick back in place. Be sure it is all the way
down.
5. Remove the dipstick again and note oil level.
6. Add oil, if needed. Do not overfill.
Change Oil
Engine oil should be changed after the first 25 hours and
every 75 hours after. Oil filter should be changed every
time oil is changed (Chart 2).
1. Move the unit to a level area. Lock the brakes.
2. If the engine is cold, let it run for 5 minutes.
3. When engine is warm, stop it and raise hood.
4. Clean areas around dipstick and drain plug.
5. Put an open top container that will hold five quarts
under drain plug.
6. Remove drain plug.
7. Allow engine to drain completely.
8. Clean and reinstall drain plug.
9. Remove oil filter. Clean oil filter port and install a new
oil filter according to instructions on oil filter.
10.Fill with new oil to “Full” mark on dipstick. Lower
hood.
11.Start engine and check for leakage at drain plug.
Tighten plug if leakage occurs.
WARNING
ACCIDENTAL ENGINE START UP can cause death
or serious injury. ALWAYS stop engine, remove key,
and wait for moving parts to stop before adjusting or
servicing.
HOT SURFACES can result in death or serious injury.
DO NOT touch parts which are hot from operation.
ALWAYS allow parts to cool.
WARNING
EXPLOSIVE VAPORS and FLAMMABLE FUEL can
result in death or serious injury. Handle fuel with care.
ALWAYS use an approved fuel container.
No Smoking!
No Lighted Materials!
No Open Flame!
Allow engine to cool.
WARNING
TOUCHING HOT SURFACES can result in death or
serious injury. DO NOT touch engine muffler and other
parts which are hot from operation. ALWAYS wait for
parts to cool.
SECTION 5: GENERAL MAINTENANCE
