555BAT™ Battery-Powered Bender
Maintenance
7. Insert a 1/2" square drive into the eccentric cam (8),
as shown.
Note: The eccentric cam has two mounting
holes for different adjustment positions.
If necessary, remove the mounting bolt and
insert it into the other mounting hole of the
eccentric cam.
8. Torque the eccentric cam to 15 foot-pounds
(20 Newton-meters). Maintain this amount of torque
while tightening the reductor mounting bolts to
35 foot-pounds (47 Newton-meters).
Chain Tension Adjustment
Lubricate the chain and adjust the tension every 6
months.
1. Disconnect the battery charger from the power
source.
2. Turn off the bender and disconnect batteries.
3. See the Exploded View. Remove the front cover
(19) and the rear upper guard (63).
4. Loosen the mounting bolts (59) that secure the
reductor (58).
5. Remove the four screws (11) that secure the
countershaft eccentric (9).
6. Rotate the countershaft eccentric to take up
the slack.
Note: If the eccentric is difficult to rotate, tap
it with a hammer and punch to loosen it.
7. Align the holes in the countershaft eccentric with
one of the two sets of holes in the bender chassis.
Replace the screws.
Tip the bender over onto its back to expose the
bottom of the reductor.
Adjusting Chain Tension
9. Connect the batteries. Press BEND or UNLOAD
while spraying a motorcycle chain lubricant on the
inside of the chain between the sprockets. Lubricate
the entire length of the chain. Disconnect the
batteries.
10. Replace the cover and guard.
Replacing the Fuse
1. Disconnect the battery charger from the power
source.
2. Grasp both ends of the fuse holder and pull it apart.
Note: Do not pull on the wires.
3. Remove the defective fuse.
4. Replace with a new fuse.
5. Align the two parts of the fuse holder over the fuse
and push them together. See the Parts List for
proper fuse type.
Wear eye protection when operating
the bender. Failure to wear eye
protection can result in serious eye
injury from flying debris.
Before servicing: turn bender OFF,
disconnect the charger from the
power source and disconnect
battery cables.
Failure to observe this warning can
result in severe injury or death.
