Grounding Instructions for Charger
Electric shock hazard:
• Do not modify the plug provided
with the charger.
•
Connect the charger to a grounded
receptacle on a 15-amp circuit.
Failure to observe these warnings
can result in severe injury or death.
The charger must be grounded. In the event of a
malfunction or breakdown, an electrical ground provides
a path of least resistance for the electric current. This
path of least resistance is intended to reduce the risk of
electric shock.
The Canadian Electric Code does not permit the use
of a temporary adapter.
The charger’s electric cord has a grounding conductor
and a grounding plug as shown. Do not modify the
plug. Connect the plug to a 15-amp GFCI protected
receptacle that is properly installed and grounded
in accordance with all national and local codes
and ordinances.
The charger is intended for use with a three-wire
grounded GFCI protected circuit. A temporary adapter
may be used to connect the charger to a two-wire
circuit. See the illustration. The green-colored ear
or lug extending from the adapter must be connected
to a permanent ground, such as a properly grounded
receptacle box or water pipe. The grounding lug or
wire must be held in place by a metallic screw or
clamp. A temporary adapter should be used only until
a properly-grounded receptacle can be installed by
a qualified electrician.
